AN AVERAGE DRUNK DRIVER HAS DRIVEN DRUNK OVER 80 TIMES BEFORE THEIR FIRST ARREST?
At our roots, we are a training company. We have been delivering Ministry-approved courses since 2005 in areas such as beginner driver education (www.roadrulesdrivingschool.ca), remedial driver training, driver rehabilitation (www.driveonrehab.com), and for the Ontario criminal courts since 2014. While thousands of customers have successfully graduated from our courses, our goal for every individual is for them to walk away with the ability to continually develop better habits in all areas of their lives.
THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATION IS TO REPLACE AN EMPTY MIND WITH AN OPEN ONE.
Customers include individuals and/or employees of corporations who have had problems with or have been charged with Impaired Driving (DUI for reasons such as alcohol, marijuana, opioids or combination thereof), road rage, and stunt driving. We use an approach that includes 360 degrees of knowledge. We all learn in different ways, (visual, auditory, experiential), and different aspects of each curriculum will speak to different people in different ways.
While we go to great lengths to continually educate ourselves and others about the substance/behaviour in question, it is important to understand that the substance of the addiction is not the problem. When dealing with an addiction/behaviour, it is important to unpack and deal with the reason one reaches out for and performs said habit. This can sometimes be no easy task if we are competitive, driven and/or results oriented.
FIRST WE MAKE OUR HABITS, THEN OUR HABITS MAKE US.
Our courses include powerpoint, readings/articles and handouts, video’s, and workbook exercises, including analysis of triggers that lead up to the series of events. We believe that “you are the expert on you”, and our goal is to encourage and equip you to make different choices when confronted with potential maladaptive decisions in the future. It has been proven that the recidivism rate is around 5% when taking this type of course.
